During a residency at Fort Warden State Park in Washington State, I made works created from materials found on site. There were leftover materials from previous artists-in-residence that, in addition to beach finds, led to the making of several shell books. This one presents in the form of a vertical box which, when one side is swung open reveals a scroll with an acrylic on tyvek landscape painting rolled around a found shell.
The base of the box has the following text:
From here I know it all. I pick up a shell and know.
