Book: leather, leather dye, stamping foil, paper, museum board, laser toner, fusion foil, pine cone specimen
Box: leather, curly maple, paper, cast acrylic, pine cone specimen, stamping foil
This second variation of An Autobiography Book Two, again uses a writing prompt originally provided by BK Loren. I imagined myself as something 'other, something that communicates in a language so different than mine. A pine cone.
This variant is a 10 panel, rigid page accordion structure that holds text positioned around circular cut outs in each of the rigid panels. The cut outs increase as one progresses through the book, slowly revealing the end cut of a dried pine cone specimen.
Housed in a bespoke drop-spine box with wood tray walls, another pine cone specimen rests under a cast acrylic platform on the tray base.
Full text:
From lofty heights I wrap myself around precious bits.
I curl inward, fending off cold, wind and damp.
Here I wait for my moment.
At times I fear that the clarity of parched, thirsty air will come too late.
That my time spent waiting for the right time to disperse these precious bits will pass before my task is done.
