An Autobiography Book Two, variant 1, was created from pages that were overwritten while on various excursions during summer 2024. The graphite drawings were created in situ while camping in Colorado forests, also during summer of 2024. In this variant, 19 graphite drawings of pine cones float on backgrounds of over-written text. The narrative is presented as a series of labels below the drawings. The graphite drawings were created in situ while camping in Colorado forests, during summer of 2024.

Adapting a writing prompt provided by BK Loren, I imagined myself as something 'other, something that communicates in a language so different than mine. A pinecone.

I love the intricate perfection of pine cones, and, although drawing isn’t part of my ongoing process, I enjoyed the hours I spent drawing pine cones over the course of a summer, and brought several home to draw during the winter months.

Sewn onto stubs in a modified simplified binding. Housed in a bespoke box with stained hardwood sides. Box front label is a graphite drawing on paper recessed behind mica. The spine label is also recessed.

Full text:

From lofty heights I wrap myself around precious bits.

I curl inward, fending off cold, wind and damp.

Here I wait for my moment.

At times I fear that the clarity of parched, thirsty air will come too late.

That my time spent waiting for the right time to disperse these precious bits will end before my task is done.
