Turning to Duff is a nested accordion featuring original, hand-written text and oil paintings on surface prepared paper. The Luconose covers have a removable magnetic spine that allows the book to be fully extended as an accordion, or viewed as a codex. Housed in a custom drop-spine box that also houses treated forest specimens behind plexiglass. The text and paintings provide a description and reflection on the processes of forest ecosystems that mediate between the living, above ground portion of the forest and the mineral soil.
