One of a series of paintings created for use in my limited edition artists book Evanesco: a selection of beleaguered frogs.

The IUCN Red List status of this frog is endangered, population decreasing.

Starting with 1920 biology notebooks from Ruth Wheeler’s archive, I over inked her pencil drawings and notes, surface treated the pages with polymer varnish, then painted the frog specimens with oil paints. The originals are diamond shaped as that is the shape I needed for the book.

Framed in a natural wood finish frame with an over mat that has both the Latin and common name of the frog laser etched below the painting.
