These mica washers were machine cut from sheets of mica. Each washer is comprised of many layers and can be easily split into thinner washers (I use a rounded metal palette knife for splitting). One thick piece can yield several thinner pieces. For this reason it is sold by weight, not the number of washers in a packet.
